TICO Certified Travel Manager (CTM)

This course is designed for travel managers/supervisors who wish to prepare for the TICO Travel Manager Education Standards Exam. All travel agency managers/supervisors will be required to take and pass the exam no later than 01 July 2009.

Topics covered include:

• Background and Role of TICO
• Overview of the Ontario Travel Industry Act 2002
• Advertising and Registrant Pre-Sale Obligations
• Post-Sale Registrant Obligations (Before Client Travels)
• Ontario Travel Compensation Fund

Independent Tour Group Organizer & Guide: Organize, plan and travel with your own groups (work full or part time). This is a great way to travel around the world free!!
Tour Operators: Employment opportunities include: Destination Representative - one who works abroad on contract generally in a warm sunny place looking after the needs of travelers; Tour Guide - one who guides or escorts a tour group organized by a tour operator; Reservation Agent - one who books travel arrangements; Sales, Marketing & Public Relations - every company needs great individuals to help develop new business

Reservations Agent: One who makes bookings (reservations) for airlines, tour operators, cruise lines, travel agencies, hotels, car rental and rail companies

Cruise Lines: Employment opportunities may include: Guest Services; Banking; Sales staff in shops; Servers, Bartenders or specialty areas e.g. Children’s programs; Administrative Staff among others

Hotels & Resorts: Positions may include working locally or abroad in: Guest Services, Front Desk, Reservations, Sales and Marketing among others
